Wait Before Spending Money On Travel & Tour

Well, I have spent money in a non-optimal way for travel and tour a lot of times and I guess many of you (my readers) will find it true in your cases as well. I like travelling although after last year's car accident we reduced our travelling significantly from once/twice a month to once a quarter or less. Today, I wanted to list a few spendings that I believe I didn't do right and would have done in a different way if I would have the knowledge and experience that I have now. Those are  - I bought some partial bay cruise deal from a Fremont Mall worth $35 or $40 I forgot. It would save me only $50 or so probably for 8 tickets and I would have to use that within next one and half years. I never used it and am not sure if I am still within that time range and approach them or not. I bought a deal from Anaheim with 2/3 night's stay for Anaheim. I am not getting time to use them but I hope to use it soon within next few months. It was some trial invitation for timeshare fr...

Victory Over Half Dome of Yosemite

Hereby I declare victory over the Half Dome! Finally we did it. I, Shahriar and Nitol succeeded in our mission to hike Half Dome of Yosemite in the first weekend of October and we finished the hike in less than 13 hours despite facing a long wait time in the cable to ascend on top of half dome. We have taken a  lot of preparation  before going to this hike. We are relatively new hikers (specially I was the last person on planet earth to get involved in any kind of physical activities or sports) and hence those preparations made good sense. Before I tell more about myself, I should tell a little about my 2 co-hikers in this trip - Shahriar and Nitol. Quazi Shariar Rahman (Sujan) is an Electrical Engineer in Cadence Design in Sillicon Valley, the first Bangladeshi batch mate whom I came to know in California by chance more than 3 years ago. He is a guy with sheer interest on physical activities and sports. He is a good soccer player, runner, table t...

Grand Canyon Trip In Memorial Day Weekend 2009

This was my first trip to Grand Canyon although I have been looking for this for more than a year now. I, Shusmita, Ahyan and Nitol took the US Airways from San Jose Airport 23rd May Saturday 9 AM and returned from there at 5 PM flight 25th May Monday. Ahmed Amin flew from San Francisco to join us in the Phoenix airport and he returned early in Monday morning. The fun started at Phoenix airport while waiting for the rental car at Dollar Country. We were given a choice of either picking a PT Cruiser which I don't like or choosing a larger size Christler without any additional fee. We were delighted to get the bigger one and drove to a Mediterranean food center called Biaz market to finish lunch. The drive from Phoenix to Flag Staff was scenic but windy and rainy. I drove a little bit and then gave the steering wheel to Nitol to go for a quick sleep as last few nights we didn't get time for proper sleep due to my neighbor Tufail Bhai's farewell from west coast to east coast. ...

My Favorite El Capitan Rock in Yosemite National Park

From Visit Around

Visited Monterey Bay Acquarium

As my parents just recently came to visit us in USA , I took them to Monterey Bay Aquarium in July 20th. We had lunch in Ambrosia Indian Cuisine nearby before entering the aquarium. We saw all the creatures there, took photos and videos. This time we were lucky to catch the session of feeding the fishes in afternoon. There was around half an hour demonstration that we enjoyed a lot and wondered why the sharks are not attacking the lady who was trying to feed them despite her skuba diving materials and masks. We covered 17 miles drive, Pebble beach and the gold course where Tiger Woods come to play. It was a 216 miles drive the whole day and no one seemed overwhelmingly tired including little Ahyan.
